We are recruiting for a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with post-qualified Medical Negligence experience to join an established team working across Guildford, Southampton, and Richmond.
The team handles a broad range of complex and often life-changing medical negligence claims, bringing together extensive claimant-side expertise with valuable medical and defendant-side experience. Despite being based across several offices, the lawyers work closely as one collaborative team, sharing expertise and supporting one another to achieve the best possible outcomes for their clients.
The role
You will manage your own caseload of Medical Negligence matters while also having the opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced colleagues on more complex and protracted claims.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing your own caseload of Medical Negligence claims
- Building strong and trusted relationships with clients and their families
- Providing clear, sensitive and supportive advice throughout the course of a claim
- Reviewing and analysing substantial volumes of medical records and other evidence
- Identifying and clearly articulating the key legal and medical issues within a matter
- Working collaboratively with colleagues on complex and higher-value cases
- Managing matters in accordance with the Medical Negligence Pre-Action Protocol and Civil Procedure Rules
- Contributing to the continued development and profile of the team
- Participating in relevant events and producing content for the firm’s website and other business development activities
The team handles a broad range of complex claims, including matters arising from:
- Birth injuries
- Cauda equina syndrome
- Encephalitis
- Delayed cancer diagnoses
- Other serious and life-changing injuries resulting from medical negligence
About you
We would be interested in hearing from a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with post-qualified experience working within Medical Negligence.
The role is expected to suit someone with approximately 2–4 years’ PQE, although experience and capability are considered more important than PQE alone.
Applications are welcomed from candidates with either claimant or defendant-side Medical Negligence experience.
You are likely to have:
- Experience managing or assisting with Medical Negligence claims
- A good understanding of the Medical Negligence Pre-Action Protocol and Civil Procedure Rules
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to review and interpret large volumes of medical and evidential material
- The ability to identify and communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- A calm, proactive and organised approach
- The ability to manage changing priorities effectively
- A genuine commitment to supporting clients and families through challenging circumstances
