An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Employment Solicitor to join a highly regarded Surrey-based team, advising an interesting and diverse client base on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
Working with employers, senior executives, SMEs, larger corporates and high-net-worth individuals, you’ll gain exposure to complex and high-profile work while developing your own caseload and client relationships.
The position could suit a Solicitor looking to continue building their technical expertise or a more experienced lawyer ready to join at Associate level, with the exact level of appointment determined by experience.
The role
You will manage your own varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters while working alongside experienced senior lawyers on more complex and high-value instructions.
Your work is likely to include:
- Advising employers and employees on a broad range of employment law matters
- Providing practical and commercially focused HR advice
- Drafting and advising on settlement agreements
- Preparing and reviewing employment contracts, policies and related documentation
- Managing and supporting Employment Tribunal claims
- Advising on complex matters including restructures, TUPE, discrimination and whistleblowing
- Supporting work involving restrictive covenants and employment-related disputes
- Working alongside senior lawyers on complex and high-value instructions
- Building and developing strong, trusted client relationships
- Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the team
You will also have the opportunity to become involved in the delivery of seminars, workshops and training events for HR and senior management professionals, providing an excellent platform to build your profile and develop your professional network.
About you
We would be interested in hearing from qualified Solicitors with experience across a broad range of employment law matters.
The role is expected to suit someone with approximately 2–5 years’ PQE, although experience and capability are considered more important than PQE alone.
You are likely to have:
- Experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- Exposure to employer and/or employee-side work
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- The ability to manage your own caseload with appropriate support
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- A practical, commercial and solutions-focused approach
- A proactive and collaborative mindset
- An interest in business development, networking and contributing to the growth of the team
- A genuine commitment to delivering a high-quality and personal service to clients
Candidates with the appropriate experience may be considered for appointment at Associate level.
