Job Description

For an experienced Private Client lawyer ready to take the next step in their career, this is an opportunity to join a highly regarded specialist team advising high-net-worth individuals and families on complex and often highly personal wealth and succession matters.

Based in Richmond, you will work with clients whose affairs frequently involve significant assets and complex planning requirements, providing trusted advice across the full spectrum of Private Wealth work.

The role offers considerable autonomy alongside the opportunity to play an important part in the development of less-experienced lawyers within the team. It could suit an established Senior Associate or an experienced Private Client lawyer who feels ready to step into a more senior position.

The role

You will manage your own varied caseload of Private Wealth matters, building strong and long-lasting relationships with clients and establishing yourself as a trusted adviser.

Your work is likely to include:

  • Wills and succession planning
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Lifetime planning
  • Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning
  • Estate administration
  • The creation, administration and winding up of trusts
  • Advising high-net-worth individuals and families on complex Private Wealth matters

Alongside your own caseload, you will also:

  • Supervise and support less-experienced colleagues, including Associates, Solicitors and Trainees
  • Contribute to the professional development of junior members of the team
  • Play an active role in marketing and business development activities
  • Help develop and maintain strong client and professional relationships
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the wider practice

About you

We would be interested in hearing from a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with significant experience in Private Wealth or Private Client work.

The role is likely to suit someone with around 7+ years’ experience, although capability and the breadth of your experience are considered more important than PQE alone.

You may already be working at Senior Associate level or be an experienced lawyer who feels ready to take that next step.

You are likely to have:

  • Strong experience managing your own varied Private Client or Private Wealth caseload
  • Experience advising on wills, estate administration and succession planning
  • Knowledge of tax and trusts within a Private Wealth context
  • The confidence to build and maintain trusted, long-term client relationships
  • Experience of, or a genuine interest in, supervising and developing junior colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to advise clients with clarity, sensitivity and empathy
  • An interest in marketing, networking and business development
  • A collaborative and team-focused approach
  • A genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for clients

Why consider this opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and highly regarded Private Wealth practice offering:

  • High-quality work for high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Exposure to complex wealth, tax, trust and succession matters
  • The autonomy to manage and develop your own client relationships
  • A senior role in supporting and developing less-experienced lawyers
  • Continued professional development and long-term career progression
  • The opportunity to build your profile through marketing and business development
  • A friendly, collaborative and supportive working environment
  • Hybrid and flexible working, with alternative working patterns considered

This role offers the opportunity to combine technically interesting Private Wealth work with meaningful client relationships and the chance to play an important role in the continued development of a specialist team.
