Job Description

High-quality corporate work and genuine career progression don’t have to come at the expense of work-life balance.

We are recruiting for an experienced Corporate Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a highly regarded and growing Corporate team in Southampton. Working with ambitious entrepreneurs and mid-market businesses, you’ll have the opportunity to take the lead on your own transactions, work alongside experienced senior lawyers on larger and more complex matters, and continue developing your career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Corporate lawyer looking for greater responsibility, strong-quality work and a clear path towards a more senior position.

The role

You will work across a broad range of corporate matters, managing your own caseload and taking the lead on transactions appropriate to your experience.

Your work is likely to include:

  • Corporate acquisitions and disposals
  • Mergers and restructuring
  • Fundraisings
  • Shareholder and partnership agreements
  • General company law and corporate advisory matters
  • Supporting senior lawyers on complex and higher-value transactions
  • Taking day-to-day responsibility for significant matters under appropriate supervision
  • Supporting and mentoring less-experienced colleagues, including junior Solicitors, Trainees and Paralegals
  • Developing strong and lasting relationships with clients

You will also be encouraged to contribute to the team’s marketing and business development activities and, as your career develops, have the opportunity to contribute to the longer-term direction and growth of the practice.

About you

We would be interested in hearing from a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with previous Corporate law experience.

The role is likely to suit someone with around 3–5 years’ PQE, although experience and capability are considered more important than PQE alone.

You are likely to have:

  • Experience advising on a range of corporate transactions and matters
  • The confidence to manage your own caseload and take the lead on appropriate transactions
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • An interest in supporting and developing junior colleagues
  • Experience of, or an interest in, marketing and business development
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine commitment to delivering excellent client service

Why consider this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to develop your career within an established and highly regarded Corporate practice, with access to excellent-quality work and the support to take on increasing levels of responsibility.

The role offers:

  • A broad and interesting range of corporate transactions
  • The opportunity to lead on your own matters and develop greater autonomy
  • Exposure to complex and higher-value work
  • Extensive mentoring and support from experienced senior lawyers
  • A genuine opportunity for continued career progression
  • Involvement in business development and the future growth of the team
  • A friendly and collaborative working environment
  • A genuine commitment to sustainable working practices and work-life balance
  • Hybrid and flexible working, with alternative working patterns considered
  • 28 days’ annual leave
  • Private medical insurance
  • Income protection and life assurance
  • Firmwide bonus scheme
  • Generous pension scheme

If you are a Corporate lawyer looking for high-quality work, greater responsibility and the opportunity to continue building your career within a supportive and ambitious team, we would be delighted to hear from you.
